Pulverized Fuel Storage

Pulverized Fuel Storage, Canada

Case Study 5 – Pulverized Fuel Storage, Canada

Challenge:
A fast-track project to take advantage of cost advantageous replacement fuels for a cement kiln, this facility was installed during a narrow shutdown window of the existing kiln. Complex explosion protection design was also required.

Process:
Only with our approach of “Integrated Plant Design”, whereby multi-disciplined design is assembled into a single model, were we able to deliver the design in the timeframe required. This model based approach also proved useful to construction planning.

Delivery:
Consultec was the overall engineering integrator for this project. Responsible for balance of plant equipment, mechanical, civil, structural and electrical design, construction supervision. This project was designed entirely in 3D as part of our new Integrated Plant Design system which enabled clear construction planning to take into account the confined space of the site.
